MAY 7-8: Branson, MO, 3rd Annual Mopars In May to be held at Area '57. This year's theme is Drag Racing and Drive-Ins. The events starts on Friday at noon with a show 'n shine at Area '57. At 5pm we'll take a Power Cruise to Ozark Raceway Park in Rogersville, MO (about 40 miles) and run your Mopar at the 1/8 mile track, or you can just watch the action. Saturday show 'n shine at 9m with awards and door prizes at 7pm and a drive-in movie--Heart Like a Wheel--starting at dusk. Your $35 registration fee includes Friday night drag racing at Ozark Raceway Park, dash plaque, special Mopars in May DVD plus discounts to area shows, attractions and restaurants, door prizes and the drive-in. JUNE 5-6: Farmington, MN, WW/NBOA Spring Meet in conjunction with the Mopars in the Park car show and swap meet to be held at the Dakota County Fairgrounds. This event is hosted by the Midwest Mopars. This year there will be a special collection of famous 1960s and 1970s era drag racing cars and drivers, as well as the largest display of TV and movie cars ever assembled. Some of the race cars that will be on display include Chi Town Hustler and The Hawaiian funny cars, and The Hawaiian's original owner Roland Leong and driver Larry Reyes, as well as nine other famous drag cars and drivers including Judy Lilly, Arlen Vanke, Don Grotheer and the Sox and Martin race team truck. In a special tribute to the late Dick Landy, his family will be reunited with his 1967 Hemi Coronet R/T Super Stock car. Also cars from the popular TV shows Mannix, the Mod Squad, and Medical Center and movie cars from A Serious Man, The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Christine will be on display. As always there will be a Moparty at Curt and Janet Lawson's home in Dayton. JUNE 7-12: Branson, MO, Winged Warriors/NBOA and Daytona-Superbird Auto Club National Meet with Stuart Sutton and Larry Roper as hosts. Our headquarters hotel is the Ramada Inn Area 57. Our special room rate is $54.95 per night; call (417) 334-1000 and ask for the WW block of rooms. The Ramada rooms surround their own large parking lot where our cars will be on display. The hotel is very nice and offers wireless internet, a work-out room, excellent hot breakfast buffet. Activities that are being planned are: Monday: arrival day and free time. Tuesday: Drive to Ozark (about 40 miles north) for lunch at Lambert's Restaurant (home of the throwed rolls). After lunch drive to Springfield to visit Bass Pro Shop and see the new aquarium and taxidermy displays, then on to Dickerson Park Zoo. The zoo has 150 species from around the world and themed exhibits representing five geographic areas; adult admission $7; children 3-12 are $5 each. Wednesday: Morning free time. Branson Car Museum in the afternoon. Supper and show at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. Thursday: Free time early; at 4:00 pm dinner, show and cruise on the Branson Belle Showboat, adults cost $54.81 each; children $28 each--tickets include meal and show on the boat. The meal consists of salad with Vadalia onion dressing, a braised cut of beef in demi glace sauce, an herb breast of chicken stuffed with cheeses and ham, garlic redskin mashed potatoes, veggie medley, Annabelle's lemon raspberry torte, sourdough bread and coffee, tea or water comes with the meal. You can also order pop. If you need a low cal, vegetarian or diabetic meal, you can request that when you order your tickets. Late afternoon we'll have a raffle and pizza party at the Ramada and we'll watch a drive-in movie at dark. There will be free time every day for members to see things on their own. There are endless shows and entertainment in the area. Some recommended shows are: Toni Roi (Elvis impersonator), The Haygoods (amazing brothers/sister musical show), Legends in Concert (Marilyn, Elvis, Shania Twain, Blues Brothers, etc), Baldknobbers (country song, dance, comedy), The Duttons, Six (six brothers who sing a capella-no instruments!), Rankin Brothers (variety of music) Acrobats of China (highly recommended very amazing show!) Shoji Tabuchi (fiddler/comedian--even if you don't see the show you have to see the theatre and bathrooms which are legends themselves!). You can learn more about the shows at www.explorebranson.com. There are also lots of attractions in the area including Silver Dollar City, the Titanic, Hollywood Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Toy Museum, Dinosaur Museum and Haunted House. Or you can play miniature golf, race go-karts, ride the Ducks, enjoy a 40-mile train ride in vintage rail cars on the Branson Scenic Railway, fly from a 100' tower or take a helicopter ride over Branson. There are numerous outlet malls, specialty stores, restaurants, ice cream joints around the area. Come to the meet and make it your family vacation!

JULY 10-11: Kansas, 3rd Annual Cruise Across Kansas, open to Mopars & AMC only. Starting at Fort Riley, KS the cruise will cover rougly 300 miles and end up at the HPAC Car Show in Kansas City, MO. While cruising along scenic Kansas at a leisurely rate, the cruise will include stopping off at History Fort Riley, Briggs Dodge in Topeka, with a lot of photo opportunities and an open schedule with a local chassis dyno you can try along the way.
